The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana

The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana (CRCL) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to drive bold, science-based action to sustain a dynamic coastal Louisiana through engagement and advocacy. The CRCL supports the good progress the state has seen on this issue in recent years, especially the science-based State Coastal Master Plan. However, CRCL believes an even bolder response is required. Louisiana urgently needs large-scale land building, including sediment diversions that harness the power of the river to build land. The most important actions to be taken to advance necessary projects are under the control of the state and federal governments. All the work must serve the purpose of driving needed action. To this end, CRCL must build support for restoration amongst stakeholders and build the funds and capacity of CRCL to increase its influence and to be able to sustain its efforts.

The Patrick Williamson Memorial Foundation

A non-profit organization established in honor of Patrick Williamson, The Patrick Williamson Memorial Foundation works to assist local and national organizations that support his core values—education, his country and his community. The majority of funds assist the nonprofit Help Our Military Heroes in providing fully equipped, adaptive minivans to service men and women who sustained injuries while on active duty during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Each year, a portion of funds raised at the Patrick Williamson Memorial Foundation’s Annual Sporting Clays Shoot-Out is used to assist in purchasing a customized vehicle for at least one military hero.

Born in Broussard, La., Patrick Williamson was an alumnus of St. Cecilia School as well as St. Thomas More High School. As an adult, Patrick was extremely patriotic with a high sense of adventure. He was a mechanical engineering major at University of Louisiana for two years before answering his life’s calling. His decision to serve in the United States Army came as no surprise to anyone who knew him. He enlisted in August 2006 and deployed to Afghanistan in July 2009, where he proudly supported Operation Enduring Freedom. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division. On October 27, 2009, Patrick was killed in the Arghandab Valley, Afghanistan when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device.
